I’ve been reasonably happy at my job but there have been a couple incidents at work that have left me questioning my continued employment there. One directly involved me, one was directed at another employee but indirectly involved me. I’ve been working long hours and I’m starting to feel burned out. Maybe it’s time to move somewhere else in the company or go to another employer altogether.
If it wasn’t for the need for health insurance I’d just chuck it all and go back to being retired.
Life is good… usually…

Mrs Bray
It seems counterbroductive to burn yourself out at a job, just for health insurance. I changed departments in the same company and it was a nightmare - completely different work atmospheres. Maybe not so many hours is an option?
And yes, life is good….mostly.

Thanks, Mrs. Bray, I know I have to go slowly on this one and not make a rash decision that could make things worse. Less hours? A possibility, but we’re extremely short staffed at the moment. If the alternative is to lose me completely they may relent and reduce my hours, albeit reluctantly.
On a side note, I went in work today on my day off to take care of some business. Today I got reprimanded by a security guard for doing something I’ve done on a weekly basis for the last six months with the full knowledge of all my supervisors. I found the supervisor on duty to tell him what had just happened. He just rolled his eyes and said not to worry about it. I’m not worried about it, but I am aggravated…

After another day off, and then a day with completely different duties, things are settling back down. I felt pretty good today. Tomorrow I’ll be back to my normal duties.
Maybe I’ll make it through this thing after all, but I’m keeping my options open. Less hours sounds like the best option at this time.

Hello Pete, I had to go down to one job. Well, I did’t HAVE to I just was too tired to do both and my legs are not feeling good a lot of the time. SO I chose the one that has the most hours. The benifits are not as good but the other job was only 186 days a year and that does not make it. Life is a bunch of what ifs and sometimes we make a choice that may not have been so good but we live with it.
Good Luck.

Been there, Pete. BGT looks very different from the inside.
I have enough remaining friends still employed to know that.
Good luck to you but health insurance is not in itself, worth causing health problems.

Things are settling down. I’ve been assured that some people will soon be trained to help in my area. That should allow me to reduce my hours and relieve the stress of being over-worked. I’d prefer to stay where I am, but I am keeping my options open.
