Proper Motivation

YIPPEE! I’ve got some company coming!

Oh, wait… the guest room/office is a mess. When I did all the year end bookwork for our businesses I left small piles of paperwork all over the place. I had sorted out all the bills into little piles for various categories, and never refiled all that important stuff (junk). I guess I never found the proper motivation to reorganize it.

Most of the stuff will just get repacked in the file boxes it came out of. I’m not going to worry too much about putting in any particular order since the businesses are now closed and it’s not too likely I’ll ever need to look at that stuff again, unless we get an IRS audit or something like that.

When it’s done I’ll feel good about it and the guilt of leaving a mess will finally leave. I’d usually just blame it on “inertia”, or lack of motivation, or just plain laziness. But this time I do have a reason, and a valid one at that. Since the new job my free time has dwindled to almost nothing. So there, that’s why the guest room is a mess. It’s not my fault this time…

Pretty good rationalizing I’d say.

Life is pretty darn good when properly motivated.
