On Keeping An Open Mind

When you start something new it’s hard to keep an open mind. Before you start you think you already know what you’re going to like and dislike. I tried to keep an open mind about my new job, but still, some of those likes and dislikes crept in.

There is a certain task that I was sure I wouldn’t like. As it turns out it’s one of the more enjoyable parts of the job. Then there’s the part that I was sure I was going to like and I find that it’s my least favorite thing so far.

Go figure…

Overall, I’m enjoying the new job. Yesterday I had to deal with the first hard rain. We also had a brief power outage. I also had to deal with an allergic reaction to something. I have an exercise-induced allergic reaction to certain things I eat. I usually know what to avoid, but there’s at least one trigger food that I haven’t figured out. Perhaps it was the mayo I had on my cheeseburger.

When I have a full-blown allergy attack it’s not a pretty sight. First I develop hives on my thighs. Then they start forming in my mouth. After that they start forming in my throat and my face swells up. That’s when it gets dangerous. I’ve been hospitalized a couple times on the verge of going into anaphylactic shock. I was afraid this reaction would escalate into a full-blown allergy attack, but I was able to stop the reaction in it’s tracks and continue working with the quick use of anti-allergy medication. My co-worker did look a bit concerned when I told her to call first aid immediately if I passed out…

Life is good.

With temps not even getting over low 40s here in subtropical Sarasota, wonder roughly how many people you had today at BGT, last day I was there, one of your co-workers we all know well said tally under 1000 total

hOPE YOU FEEL BETTER TODAY. wAS THERE LAST NIGHT BUT JUST HAD TIME TO SAY SO LONG TO MATT. :(
